Apostolate levels higher than the level of prophetic, Apostle sent to the unbelievers, while the prophet was sent to a people who have faith. The apostles were sent to bring new shari'ah, whereas the prophet simply follow the previous Shari'ah, The whole apostle saved from attempted murder of his people, but most of the prophets never be killed by his people.
Ibn Kathir says that, Ibn Abi Hatim narrated a hadith from companions Abu Ubaidah, he said that the Jews had killed 43 prophets once in the morning, then there was a group of righteous people who oppose the killing, but in the afternoon, a group of righteous people are killed them anyway ,
The prophets may convey revelations but no obligation on certain people or certain regions. Meanwhile, the word "apostle" comes from the word meaning submission Risala. Therefore, the apostles, after first appointed as a prophet, in charge of revelation to the obligation on a people or a particular region.
